Why the name?

Icthus quarter-tonner racing Ilhabela Rolex sailing week Brazil

From the late Nineties to 2006, the Icthus was the family boat which Philip Bacon raced with his two sons and friends out of Rio de Janeiro bay.

On returning to the UK, the buyer of the boat was keen to keep the name, and the picture shows the Icthus with its current livery continuing to take prizes in the Ilhabela Sailing Week since. Curiously, he then launched a brand of clothes in Sao Paulo using the same logo, 'Icthus Jeans', which traded successfully for some 10 years in Brazil's fast-moving fashion environment.
